Acupuncture Fertility Treatment in Margate, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Boca Raton, Parkland & Ft Lauderdale.
So just how does acupuncture help in treating female infertility? Acupuncture has shown to be very effective in improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. This helps primarily with the implantation of the embryo. Acupuncture also promotes timely ovulation and an ideal luteal phase (the second phase of a woman’s cycle after ovulation). It also raises levels of stress coping hormones when it is applied before ovulation. By decreasing stress, the chances of ovulation, fertilization and implantation increase.
Acupuncture treats the root cause of your infertility. As fertility treatment specialists, we recognize that every person and couple having difficulty conceiving needs individualized treatment, since no two people present with the exact same condition. With that individualized approach, acupuncture is an effective fertility treatment that facilitates conception in most cases of infertility.
Acupuncture can also effectively complement western medicine in cases of infertility due to fallopian tube blockage, uterine fibroids, and even advanced endometriosis, as was the case with one of our patients that conceived twice with our help and the help of her MD that discovered stage 3 and stage 4 endometriosis while performing laparoscopy. Read her story…
“We became pregnant in November of 2006 after trying for 4 months but unfortunately we suffered a miscarriage at 9 weeks. We sought out the help of a reproductive endocrinologist, who after putting me on clomid for 6 months, doing IUI’s and 2 injectable cycles, told me that we would not be able to conceive using my eggs because I was 35 years old. I asked him if he would test me for endometriosis because of my history of irregular cycles and painful periods and I was told I did not have endometriosis. He advised me to do IVF with donor eggs which I declined and decided to look for another doctor.”
“In April of 2008, I found a new doctor who performed a laparoscopy where it was discovered that I indeed had stage 3 endometriosis mostly wrapped around my ovaries. She recommended that I do acupuncture because she had seen a lot of her patients conceive because of acupuncture. I had read a lot about the great results many had with acupuncture while trying to conceive and I decided to give it a try. I started going to acupuncture and taking the Chinese herbs with Dr Robert Herbst and after a few short months, my husband and I found out the great news that we were pregnant on December 12th, 2008. I continued the Chinese Herbs and acupuncture during my pregnancy. Our daughter Molly was born on July 25th, 2009. It was the happiest day of our lives.”
“In March 2010, we decided to go back and try conceiving again. I went back to my doctor to check on the endometriosis and it was back. This time it was worse than before at stage 4. I had the surgery in April 2010 and went back to acupuncture and Chinese herbs. On October 19th, 2010, we found out we were expecting our second child. I continued the acupuncture and chinese herbs during this pregnancy as well. Our son Christopher was born on May 30th, 2011.”
“We truly are blessed and beyond happy with our two healthy children. We honestly believe that if it wasn’t for the acupuncture and Chinese herbs that we received from Dr. Robert Herbst we would not be where we are today. Acupuncture and the chinese herbs made a huge difference regulating my cycle and the number of follicles as well. While being monitored by my doctor she could not believe the difference in the number of follicles I had each month. I went from having 1 or 2, to having 9 in each ovary which is what women in their 20’s have. I strongly recommend to every woman who is trying to conceive and is struggling to do acupuncture. A lot of other women that I know that have done acupuncture have conceived.” ~ Carmen – Coral Springs, Florida
Acupuncture Fertility Treatment
Regulating Your Menstrual – Ovulatory Cycle Leads to Conception
By far the number one goal of acupuncture in female fertility treatment is the regulation of menstruation and ovulation. That means striving to achieve an approximate 28-30 day cycle with a smooth flow, without large clots and without excessive cramps. Acupuncture also strengthens your ovulatory function, improving blood flow and building a high quality uterine lining. And, as previously stated, acupuncture has been shown to encourage implantation of the embryo.
Acupuncture is very good for your overall reproductive health. In recent clinical trials, acupuncture as a fertility treatment has been shown to significantly increase conception rates and decrease miscarriage rates. Acupuncture resets your circadian clock, reduces stress, helps you release endorphins, and adjusts your endocrine system. It also rids the body of any underlying inflammation and boosts the immune system. Acupuncture also has minimal side effects, and with a good acupuncturist, is virtually pain free.
And acupuncture is not just for women. There is strong evidence showing acupuncture’s ability to increase sperm volume, while improving sperm motility and sperm morphology percentages as well. This makes acupuncture a great fertility treatment for men!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO GET PREGNANT
USING ACUPUNCTURE AND CHINESE HERBS?
This is a question we hear often. This very much depends on each couple’s individual situation. We’ve seen success anywhere from the first or second cycle all the way to 9 months later. Most patients (men and women) need approximately 3 months of fertility treatment with acupuncture to find success. Studies have shown, however, that some couples will succeed at the 6-9 month mark, as it can take that long for their cycles to be fully regulated and ready to conceive.
For women, consistent treatment is important so specific hormonal adjustments can be made at each week of the cycle using acupuncture and herbs. Every week is a significant opportunity to heal a particular segment of the four-phase menstrual cycle (menstruation, follicular phase, ovulation, and luteal phase). For male factor, a typical course of 10 weeks can do the trick, as it usually takes a full sperm generating cycle (72 days approx).
Remember that trying to get pregnant is a statistical game. The more you try, naturally or with Assisted Reproductive Technologies such as IVF or IUI, the better your chances are. This applies to acupuncture as well – the longer you allow it to correct and balance your body, the better your chances are. Unfortunately, there is no quick path when it comes to conception and full term pregnancy of a healthy child, but it’s well worth the wait!
